Notepad+.exe Correspondence
Dear Ron,

I am desperate for information and hope you will have the time to answer my question. I probably seem really nervy to ask you, but am trying it anyway.... I was searching the web tonight for comparisons of WordPad versus Notepad and came across your site.

I see that you strongly recommend not using Wordpad for HTML editing. Could you please explain why?

My reason for asking: I spent an hour and a half on the phone today with two Dell techs, trying to figure out why I ran out of memory in Notepad while editing an HTML document (I have been doing similar HTML editing in Notepad, with no problems, for over a year).

After my conversation with the first tech, after I had done everything he told me to (and it STILL didn't fix my Notepad problem) I discovered that I "lost" my Norton antivirus, and my printer stopped working as well.

So I called Dell back.... A second Dell tech (same day) said I should use Wordpad instead of Notepad because it is more advanced and can handle larger documents. Following his advice, I did use Wordpad tonight to finish editing the HTML document that Notepad had such a problem with, and I was able to finish it this time.

But now I am worried about using Wordpad in the future for my HTML editing -- So could you please give me some enlightenment about this? I would appreciate it very much!
Thank you, ... Susan Jessen, Santa Cruz, CA (Oct 7, 2002)

Hi Susan,

Just a short note as you need to know that Notepad has a 64k limit. Download this and continue......

Wordpad can/could had special characters embedded in the file.
